BLUE FLAG BEACHES – 586 HIGHEST EVER AWARDED IN SPAIN!
This year, nine extra beaches were awarded the kite-mark blue flag, which means, that once again, Spain has become the world leader in the number of blue-flag beaches around its coastline.
The prestigious emblem will fly from 586 beaches and 100 yacht marinas this year. Turkey, Greece, France and Portugal follow Spain, in that order. The award denotes superior quality of cleanliness, facilities, safety and accessibility for the disabled, which is why millions of visitors from colder climates return year after year to Spain for their summer breaks.
The area around Valencia came out top for blue-flag beaches with 125 gaining the prestigious award, followed by Galicia with 123, Catalunya with 98 and Andalucia with 76.
