The most expensive flights are those booked for mid-afternoon, especially on Friday, owing to the fact that these are chosen by travellers going away for a short weekend break, but the cheapest are those booked in the evening between 18.00hrs to midnight at the beginning of the week.

The best prices are to be found on average 53 days before you fly and the most expensive being three days before you fly. Booking two months ahead of your journey, can cut the costs by a typical 29% on average. The main factors which affect the price of your journey are the time of year, the airline, and the day of the week.

The most popular destination for travellers are between Madrid and Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, followed by flights to the main London airports, particularly Gatwick and Stansted.
