Top Ten Cities – Malaga!

Although South Africa took top spot, renowned travel publication ROUGH GUIDES has ranked Málaga in second place in its TOP TEN CITIES TO VISIT in 2015. Andalucia’s stunning port city scored highly, with its beautiful architecture, wealth of cultural experiences, excellent beaches and beautiful weather. Its appeal, said the guidebook, lies in its location. A world class airport serving most corners of Europe, with access to most resorts along the Costa del Sol. Most visitors on their visit to this region would hardly give the city a second glance, preferring the attraction of Marbella and Puerto Banus.

But now this city has begun to turn heads. Málaga combines the sultry charm of an old Spanish town with the buzz and vibrancy befitting its reputation as one of the largest and fastest-growing cities in the country. The city’s famous Picasso museum and port have long been attractions, but a wealth of new head-turning attractions are bringing a crowd of younger, energetic visitors, like the soon-to-be-unveiled Cube at the harbour. “

Although, sun, sea and sangria are still in plentiful supply, the ancient city, founded by the Phoenicians has plenty more to offer,” said ROUGH GUIDES. Málaga’s cultural revival include a new museum of Russian art set to open in a disused tobacco factory and the continued development of a mural-daubed Soho which attracts avant-guard artists from all over the world.

Along with the 8% increase in tourism in 2014, the travel website TRIPADVISOR ranked Málaga as one of the top 10 cities to visit in Spain. The spotlight is set to shine on Málaga now the praise has been heaped on it by ROUGH GUIDES – but one that is deserved for one of Spains most beguiling of cities.
